VARTAN OSKANIAN EXPLAINS WHAT COULD LEAD TO POSSIBLE BLOODSHED
April 10, 2013 | 19:47
YEREVAN.- If the Prosperous Armenia has done the same as Heritage,
that is took to the streets, it would have ended in bloodshed, former
FM Vartan Oskanian said.
Oskanian, who is heading the proportional list of Prosperous Armenia
for Yerevan elections, met with voters in Nork administrative district
of Yerevan.
"Raffi Hovannisian having a smaller party took part and won a
significant number of votes. Imagine if the Prosperous Armenia, being
the larger party, with huge financial and organizational ability,
participated as well (in the presidential election - ed.) Believe me,
the competition would have been sharper, we would gain more votes,
but again they (the government - ed.) would have presented other
results, and we would be forced to take the streets," Oskanian said.
Former official is confident such actions would inevitably lead
to bloodshed. This was the reason why their leader Gagik Tsarukyan
decided to avoid political tempest.
