    On April 10 Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian
    met Miroslav Laychak who is the Deputy Prime-Minister of Slovakia,
    and Minister of Foreign Affairs and the European issues and who was
    in Armenia on an official visit.

    Welcoming the guest, the Acting Minister expressed hope that the
    Slovak colleague's visit will give new impulse to the development
    of bilateral cooperation in various fields. He noted that Minister
    Laychak is accompanied by a Slovak business delegation and there has
    already been a business forum, which will be an important stimulus
    for the expansion of trade and economic cooperation.

    Expressing his gratitude for the invitation and reception in Yerevan,
    Minister Laychak highlighted that Slovakia wants to deepen the
    cooperation with Armenia and that the main goal of his visit is the
    reaching of agreements in this regard.

    During the meeting the sides had a detailed conversation about ways of
    expanding bilateral relations. Agreements were reached to expand the
    legal framework and to deepen cooperation in economic, humanitarian
    and other fields.

    Edward Nalbandian and Miroslav Laychak referred to the cooperation in
    the framework of various international and regional organizations,
    as well as to the conducting of periodic consultations between the
    Foreign Ministries as an important means of making the political
    dialogue continuous.

    During the conversation the sides exchanged views on Armenia-EU
    cooperation, the progress that Armenia has achieved in that direction.

    Edward Nalbandian thanked the Slovak government's caring treatment
    of the Armenian community and highlighted the fact that Slovakia is
    among those countries which have recognized the Armenian Genocide.

    Edward Nalbandian presented to the Slovak Foreign Minister the current
    situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement and the efforts
    undertaken by the OSCE Minsk Group and Armenia.

    The sides also discussed various international and regional issues.

    After the meeting, Edward Nalbandian and Miroslav Laychak signed
    an agreement on cooperation in the field of healthcare, which was
    followed by a joint press conference.
