ARAM SARGSYAN: ARMENIAN LOBBY SHOULD TAKE COORDINATED ACTIONS

    Friday,April 19

The State Commission coordinating the events dedicated to the 100th
anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was established three years ago,
but it is not clear what it has done. Vice President of the World
Armenian Congress, the leader of the Democratic Party of Armenia Aram
Sargsyan expressed this opinion during a meeting with reporters today.

"We have not developed a program to decide what path to follow. The
whole world expects the Armenians to do something unique and
impressive, but we don't do anything. If we fail to take measures in
the next few months, it will mean a failure," he noted.

In his words, the Armenia lobby today takes fragmentary, uncoordinated
actions, in other words, it is in "a shameful state".

Another participant of the press conference, international law expert
Vladimir Vardanian enumerated the achievements of the Armenians
in the past ten years, in particular, the Genocide's recognition by
parliaments of the U.S. and Europe, attempts to condemn the Genocide's
denial within the framework of the judicial system, and trials of
insurance cases. "We have won some cases, but only as insurance cases,
and it was not compensation for the genocide", he stressed.

The press conference participants expressed an opinion that the
problem should be moved to the legal field. "We give priority to
the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, whereas we
should speak more about overcoming its consequences. When we do it,
we already move to the legal field," Aram Sargsyan said.
