YEREVAN. - The number of tourists that visit Armenia has reduced in the
first months of 2013, as compared to the year past. Armine Adamyan,
a chair member of the Union of Incoming Tour Operators of Armenia,
stated this during a press conference on Friday, and added that the
reason for this drop in numbers is the high ticket prices for air
transport (PHOTOS).
"For the tourists, however, often there is no difference whether
Georgia or Armenia; there are churches, [and] tasty food is served
in both countries," Adamyan added.
But, according to her, the hotel business is more established in
Armenia than in neighboring Georgia, where the quality of service is
low and the prices are high.
As per Armine Adamyan, the fact that Armenia does not have direct
flights to several large European countries is disadvantageous for
the country.
