ARMENIA WILL APPLY TO INCLUDE YEREVAN'S BLUE MOSQUE IN UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE LIST

YEREVAN. - Armenia plans to file an application to include capital
city Yerevan's Blue Mosque in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.
Acting Culture Minister Hasmik Poghosyan stated this during her joint
news conference with her Iranian counterpart.
Poghosyan further informed that the Armenian party already invited
Iranian experts that can help complete this application.
In his turn, Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad
Hosseini stressed that the historical and cultural ties between the
Armenian and the Iranian peoples go back 3,000 years.
"Iran has a huge track-record in including Armenian cultural heritage
in the UNESCO list. We hope that, with the efforts by the Armenian
government, Yerevan's Blue Mosque [likewise] will be included in the
UNESCO World Heritage [Site] list," Hosseini noted.
