EU FUNDED PROJECT SIGNS A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE AUTHORITIES OF LORI MARZ TO PROMOTE WOMEN'S ENTERPRENEURSHIP

The Armenian Young Women's Association (AYWA), the Lori Marzpetaran,
the Municipalities of Vanadzor, Akhtala, Spitak, Stepanavan, Alaverdi,
Shamlugh, Tashir, Tumanyan and the Municipalities of Odzun, Metsavan,
Aqori and Shnogh villages signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
on 2 August.
According to the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, the
MoU was signed in the framework of the EU funded project "Social and
Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia" which is implemented by
"Armenian Young Women's Association" NGO. The project partners are
CISP organization, Lori Marzpetaran and Vanadzor Municipality.
"Each project or measure connected with social and economic development
of women and promoting their entrepreneurship is certainly commendable
and worth of attention and support. When I was working as a community
mayor my cooperation with "Armenian Young Women's Association" gave
desired results and I'm sure that new project connected with social
and economic development of women in Lori region will be effective. I
welcome this initiative": said Lori governor Arthur Nalbandyan.
By signing the Memorandum of Understanding all sides officially
state commitment to encourage women's participation in social and
economic life.
"Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia" project
contributes to the promotion of women's social and economic empowerment
in the Lori region to improve women's social-economic situation.
The project will design programmes that promote local economic
and community development as well as organise educational and
informational trainings and discussions among regional women to
promote entrepreneurship. It will also provide financial assistance
to the beneficiaries of the project to encourage community development
through entrepreneurial programmes in the Lori marz.
The "Social and Economic Empowerment of Women in Armenia" project
is funded by the European Union with 768.357,95 EUR. The duration of
the project is three years, from May 2013 to May 2016.
