THERE IS MATTER OF MAKING ARMENIANS FACE GRAVE SITUATION - NEWSPAPER
August 07, 2013 | 07:50
YEREVAN. - The recent killing of an Azerbaijani shepherd by the Russian
border guards at the Armenian-Turkish border will create tension in
Armenian-Turkish relations.
ModusVivendiCenter Director, political scientist Ara Papyan told the
aforesaid to Aravot daily.
'"Because a man was killed, the Turkish nationalism will use this. But
I believe this is also convenient for other countries because this
will arouse fear among Armenians yet again, and I am confident that
many will say relations with Turkey are worsening.'
"Reflecting on the Armenian MFA reaction to this incident, he said:
'The Russian side gave an unclear response to the first questionings,
saying that the shepherd was armed and he was the first to open fire;
but the weapon was not presented. And as long as there is no weapon,
these claims are unsubstantiated.'
"In his words, there is a matter of stirring up an anti-Armenian
climate; that is, provoking the Turks and the Azerbaijanis against us
[Armenians].
'"There is matter of making Armenians face a grave situation,' Papyan
said," Aravot writes.
