SHARMAZANOV: AZERBAIJAN SHOULD GIVE UP ITS ILLUSIONS
Tuesday,
August 06
"Ceasefire violations by Azerbaijan have become more frequent
recently. Comparison of the facts proves once again that Azerbaijan is
not only unprepared for peace talks, but it is also doing everything
to torpedo them," the Armenian parliament's vice speaker Edward
Sharmazanov told the correspondent of Aysor.am.
In his words, Azerbaijan's actions seriously damage the negotiating
process and the efforts of the Co-Chair countries. "This is a
demarche regarding the statements issued earlier by the presidents
of the mediating states. Azerbaijan's actions cause the mediating
countries to take respective steps, otherwise the consequences may
be irreversible," Sharmazanov noted.
He added that the Armenian side does not want a military solution of
the Karabakh problem. "All this is fraught with losses on both sides.
Besides, a military path is not a resolution of the problem.
Azerbaijan should give up it illusions and take a constructive position
on the talks," Sharmazanov said.
