AIDS control program in Armenia is rated excellent

Global Fund Portfolio Manager Georgi Sakvarelidze sent an official
letter to Armenia's Minister of Health, Derenik Dumanyan.
The letter informs about the results of the formal evaluation of the
second phase of the implementation of the Global Fund program for
combating AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.
Specifically, it is noted that the Armenian Health Ministry has
implemented the `HIV/AIDS Control National Program Assistance in
Armenia' grant program in excellent manner. Also, the expectations are
exceeded in seven out of the eight indicators of the implementation of
this program.
Sakvarelidze also reflected on the successes achieved by Armenia's
sub-recipient organizations of the grant funds.
In addition, the Global Fund expressed its satisfaction with the
ministry initiative to extend the methadone replacement therapy
program on to Gyumri, the second largest city in Armenia.
The HIV prevention measures being taken among Armenia's prisoners
likewise were highly evaluated.
The high indicators, which were recorded in the previous reporting
periods of the program, were maintained, too.
Global Fund Portfolio Manager Georgi Sakvarelidze's letter also notes
that the Health Ministry of Armenia effectively manages the grant
program.
