The information in Azerbaijani mass media about murder of the three
Armenian servicemen and wounding of a battalion chief is "out of
thin air", press-secretary of Armenia's Defence Ministry, Artsrun
Hovannisyan, told Arminfo correspondent.
An officer of Armenian was shot by Azerbaijani servicemen in the
shooting in Berd-Gazakh territory of the frontline on August 6,
1news.az reported referring to its "military sources". On August
6, at 00.50, as a result of the shooting between Azerbaijani and
Armenian servicemen, battalion commander of Armenian army, Major
Avelyan Armen Saroyevich was seriously wounded. Regiment commander,
Colonel Harut Minasyan, who was responsible for the protection of the
abovementioned territory was also with him. He managed to run away
during the shooting. But the battalion commander Avelyan was taken from
the danger zone with serious wounds. He was first taken to military
hospital in Berd region, then to the Central Military Hospital in
Yerevan. In general, from August 2 till August 8, 3 Armenian servicemen
were killed by Azerbaijani snipers on the frontline.
For his part, a representative of the Armenian Defence Ministry thinks
such an information is funny. He drew attention at an interesting
detail - the Azerbaijani party was so much hot for the sensation
invented by it, that it willingly confessed making aggression against
the Republic of Armenia, breaking cease-fire regime and attempted
murder.
Hovannisyan added that servicemen with the names mentioned in the
information do not serve at the sector named in the information. This
is evidence of its falsehood. "Similar publications are peculiar
to the yellow press, but not to the one that respects itself", -
press-secretary of Armenia's Defence Ministry said. He also added that
an Armenian officer will never leave his friend at the battle field,
as such a behavior is not peculiar to his image. "It is impossible
to find out such cases even with a help of a microscope", he said.
