ZHOGGOVURD: ARMENIAN MILITARY POLICE CHIEF FACED DETENTION OVER MURDER ATTEMPT

The paper says it has learned from sources that the chief the Armenian
Defense Ministry's military police faced detention two years ago for
masterminding an assassination attempt.
Colonel Samvel Ghukasyan, who worked at the Armavir regional police
department at the time, reportedly plotted a murder against the
department's chief. But fortunately, nobody suffered in the gunshots
which he had ordered, says the paper, adding that Ghukasyan later
faced a short period of detention in Yerevan.
The paper says it tried to contact Ghukasyan but he wasn't available
for comment. The Defense Ministry's spokesperson, Artsrun Hovhannisyan,
who was contacted later, reportedly described the story as a
misinterpretation. "Those reports are clearly aimed at compromising
Mr Ghukasyan, and are speculated with that purpose," he told the paper.
