MINISTER: INDUSTRIAL COOPERATION IS ONE OF TOP-PRIORITY FOCUSES IN ARMENIAN-BELARUSIAN ECONOMIC RELATIONS
YEREVAN, August 27. /ARKA/. Industrial cooperation is one of the
top-priority focuses in Armenian-Belarusian economic relations,
Belarusian Forestry Minister Mikhail Amelyanovich, co-chair of
Armenian-Belarusian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic
Cooperation, said today after completion of the commission's 10th
session in Yerevan
"Efforts to develop join activities and establish direct ties between
our companies would certainly expand our further relations," he said.
Amelyanovich said that enterprises assembling Belarusian agricultural
machinery would be very promising. He also pointed out the first line
launched in Belarus in July 2012 for bottling Armenian brandy as an
example of successful cooperation of this kind.
The minister said that prospects for exporting Belarusian machinery
to Armenia and servicing it here were considered at the session.
Prospects for exporting vehicles and agricultural machinery to Armenia
on leasing payment and export crediting conditions with participation
of Belarusian leasing operator Promagroleasing were discussed as well.
"We placed it on record with pleasure that trade turnover between the
countries is growing from year to year. It grew 40.3% in 2012, compared
with 2011, to more than $46 million. We see we have considerable
reserves here," Amelyanovich said.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, trade between
Armenia and Belarus amounted to $20.1 million in Jan-May 2013 - 19.7%
year-on-year growth.
The minister also stressed that the commission has carefully mulled
over things in cooperation in agriculture sector and has seen certain
growth of Armenian exports to Belarus.
Armenia sends some 50 kinds of products to Belarus. Alcoholic
drinks, (65.1%), petrochemicals (4.5%), siliceous earth (2.4%),
glass containers (2.3%) and medicaments (1.5%) dominate Armenia's
exports to Belarus. ---0---
