LAST ACT OF RUSSIA AND TURKEY AT THE EXPENSE OF ARMENIANS
The Russian empire is like a fallen ox surrounded with men with
knives. Moscow has to multitask. And the problems are multiplying. The
material is worn out and they can't manage to mend it.
On the one hand, the Western press regularly declares the end of
Russia, on the other hand, it states that deliberations on its death
are an anachronism. However, these are the two extremities of the
same process: the Russian empire is collapsing but Russia stands a
chance to strengthen and become a powerful state.
The vision of Putinian Russia is the empire but it does not have
enough strength, money and ideology for that. The liberal and other
forces call to give up imperial ambitions and create a strong and
comfortable state within Russia's current borders. Yanukovich, the
most "pro-Russian" president of Ukraine, has stated that nothing can
hinder the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and
the EU. He reminded that the European bias is set down in the law on
home and domestic policies and is not subject to review.
The head of Ural Kalium Company has been in a Minsk prison for one
week who is the victim of Russia's imperial ambitions. In answer to
his arrest Russia has cut oil supply to Belarus and banned import
of pork from that country. Afterwards the ambassador of Belarus to
Bulgaria talked to the foreign minister of that country on resuming
negotiations with Eastern Partnership.
Russia is trying to fulfill its imperial ambitions in at least
"unrecognized states", sets up Suvorov colleges, preparing the ground
for recognition and military presence. However, this idea apparently
is not understood, at least in Armenia.
Imperial ambitions played a practical joke with Turkey which has
also appeared on the verge of collapse. The Turkish Cum'Hurriyet
has forecast the end of Erdogan's policy, noting that the country is
facing fragmentation due to neo-Ottoman ambitions.
The Russian Empire and Turkey are based on the same principles, and it
is not accidental that they have always helped each other to survive.
This has always been in prejudice to Armenians: Russia scared them
with Turks and took them under its "aegis" while Turkey postured
angry to make Armenians believe.
Now these two empires are at the line of danger which could, however,
also be a good trampoline. It is not accidental that in the Western
press the more frequent answer to the question "who is next?" is
Turkey and Russia, rather than Iran.
Currently divided between the Russian empire and Turkey, Armenia must
prepare to set up equal relations between new Russia and new Turkey
because the collapse of the present empires is drawing nearer. In
the meantime, one must be ready for the next possible act of mutual
assistance of these two in prejudice to Armenia.
