PRESIDENT CANDIDATE SPEAKS OF 'REAL AND FALSE STRUGGLE' IN ARMENIA PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

Andrias Ghukasyan, one of the presidential candidates, who has been on
a hunger-strike for two days, cannot make any comments on the sincerity
and aims of the other presidential candidates - Aram Harutyunyan and
Arman Melikyan - who withdrew from the election campaign.
"I think I, as well as the public, need time for that. Time will show,"
he told Tert.am.
Mr Ghukasyan has three demands: all the presidential candidates must
withdraw from the election campaign for Armenian President Serzh
Sargsyan to remain alone; the Central Electoral Commission (CEC)
of Armenia must invalidate Serzh Sargsyan's registration; OSCE/ODIHR
observers must not conduct monitoring in Armenia.
With respect to Facebook comments on his hunger-strike, Mr Ghukasyan
said: "Obviously, people are somewhat cynical about political figures'
steps. However, public response is predictable, and the public can
differentiate real struggle from imitation," Mr Ghukasyan said.
OSCE/ODIHR observers have not yet visited Mr Ghukasyan, which is not
a surprise for him.
"I am not conducting an election campaign," he said. Mr Ghukasyan
noted that he does not want them to visit him.
