FOLLOWING THE RESIGNATION OF BISHOP ZAKARIAN NORVAN

    Translated from French

Renaissance Paris alert the Armenian-French community and the Armenian
Apostolic Church on moral and institutional crisis that risks plunging
the Armenian community in France following the resignation of the
Primate of his diocese. It calls on all authorities and persons
of the diocese, as well as dependent Catholicossate Etchmiadzin,
to measure the extent of changes that can lead to resignation.

Armenian-Renaissance Paris invites to consider the following points:

    1. Replacing a respected religious leader for his high spiritual and
    human values is a challenge.

    2. Significant differences in operation are at the origin of the
current relationship problems between Armenia and the Diaspora. In the
management of national institutions, the post-Soviet elites emphasize
the verticality of power, lack of transparency in the management and
non-democratic centralization, whereas the Armenian citizens of France
    demanding transparency, democracy and decentralization.

    3. In addition, centralized hierarchies do not sufficiently take into
account the cultural and legal specificities of France.

Armenian-Renaissance Paris invites all elected bodies of worship
and their parishioners to assert their rights under the democratic
constitution of their church. As for the Princes of the Apostolic
Church, she invites them to turn to smaller, relieve their pain and
suffering and to radically change their modes of governance.
