    SURVEY: 57% UNWILLING TO COMBAT CORRUPTION

    Only 19% of respondents in Armenia said corruption has declined, 43%
    said corruption has increased, Executive Director of Transparency
    International Anti-corruption Center Varuzhan Hoktanian said today,
    when presenting the results of a survey by the Global Corruption
    Barometer.

    According to him, 83% consider corruption a serious problem in Armenia,
    while 57% are unwilling to be involved in the fight against corruption.

    In the opinion of respondents, the agencies set up to combat corruption
    are the most corrupt ones, for example, the court system.

    The healthcare system is in second place by the level of corruption,
    while civil servants ad public employees are in third place.

    "Respondents consider the police corrupt as well. 69% of them said
    the court system is corrupt, while 66% believe that the police are
    corrupt," Hoktanian noted.

    The survey shows that 21-40% of respondents believe in the efficiency
    of fight against corruption.
