Nationality is of no importance at international film festivals -

Nationality is of no importance at some international film festivals.
Rather, films themselves are of importance. Armenians have the moral
strength to screen Azerbaijani and Turkish films, Harutyun
Khachatryan, Founding Director of the GOLDEN APRICOT festival, told
Tert.am as he spoke of the film `The Swing of the Coffin Maker' by the
Azerbaijani film-maker Elmar Imanov, which was screened at Yerevan's
Moscow cinema as part of the GOLDEN APRICOT Yerevan 10th International
Film Festival.
There must not be any discrimination because `it is our generous
spirit and desire of our hearts.'
`If Armenia is hosting an international festival should it be afraid
of screening Azerbaijani films?' said Khachatryan.
`If we are an international festival we must screen Azerbaijani and
Turkish films because art is among our strongest weapons,' he added.
Speaking of the quality of art, Khachatryan expressed his concern,
saying, `If we prove unable to protect our reputation, we will fail.'
Speaking of the Azerbaijani film, he said, `It is a good film. We must
show such films to show our strength.'
Anahit Ordyan, Spokeswoman for the Golden Apricot Festival, said that
Elmar Imanov has not arrived in Armenia.
`I know the film has been appreciated as a feature film,' she said as
she commented on mass media response to the film.
