YEREVAN, JULY 16, ARMENPRESS: The authorities of Armenia and Iran
want to strengthen the trade and economic cooperation. More favorable
economic relations will be possible in case if several issues are
solved. As reported by Armenpress, this was stated by the Head of the
Tehran Chamber of Commerce Yahya Ale Eshaq during the Armenian-Iranian
Business Forum. One of the prior issues, put forward by Yahya Ale
Eshaq, is the establishment of the non-patent regime between Armenia
and Iran.
"As far as I know the Islamic Republic of Iran does not have any
problems with it. We are waiting for Armenia to decide and establish
non-patent regime between Armenia and Iran", - said the Head of the
Tehran Chamber of Commerce.
The second problem is the issue of preferential tariffs. "If I am not
mistaken the tariffs are 20-30%. Taking into account, that Armenia
is the member of the World Trade Organization, the tariffs are quite
high", - said Yahya Ale Eshaq. The Iranian representative highlighted
the cooperation in the goods transit area, noting that Iran could
open a way for Armenia to the 14 neighboring countries.
The other problem, mentioned by the Head of the Tehran Chamber
of Commerce, is to make the economic activity-related laws more
transparent.
During the Forum the Executive Director of the Yerevan Chamber of
Commerce Karen Martirosyan and the Head of the Tehran Chamber of
Commerce Yahya Ale Eshaq signed a memorandum of understanding.
The Armenian-Iranian Business Forum was attended by the representatives
of more than 60 companies. 100 businessmen from Armenia participated
in the Forum.
