WAS FEMALE DRESSING GOWN NECESSARY TO RECALL MANY THINGS?

The story related to the Armenian driver involved in the traffic
accident in Podolsk, Russia caused a big wave of indignation in
Armenia. The image of the poor man taken to the court in a female
dressing gown shocked the Armenian society. There were protests in
front of the Russian embassy in Yerevan demanding respect for human
    dignity.

The response of the Russian embassy and the "advocates" of Russia in
Armenia was expected. They said this is an "anti-Russian hysteria"
and an attempt to spoil Armenian-Russian relations. In other words, if
the Armenian society demands to respect dignity and basic human rights
of the Armenian citizen, it is assessed as anti-Russian hysteria and
an attempt to spoil relations while the Armenian side has never said
anything about it. If one can understand the response of the Russian
embassy, a similar response of part of the Armenian society is more
    than strange.

In Armenia there is no anti-Russian hysteria and anti-Russian moods in
Armenia in general, let alone attempts to spoil relations. Describing
the response of the society this way fits into the logic of Moscow's
policy relating to the Armenian-Russian relations. Moscow makes is
clear that it is not going to change the logic of its policies.

This logic has been clearly expressed recently. Despite agreement
on military-political partnership, Russia keeps ignoring Armenia's
interests. Moscow has its privileges in this region and is led by them.

What is the task of the Armenian society? Not to react and justify all
Moscow steps? The reason of such attitude is that Moscow has always
been sure that Armenia will never complain and demand respecting
agreements. Armenia has behaved this way for centuries. Now the society
is asking questions because all this is related to Armenia's security
    and sovereignty.

So, the issue is not Russia's policies. The issue is whether the
Armenian society is adequate to its own interests. For the first time
different layers of the society participated in protests in front
of the Russian embassy. Perhaps there are some sharp and inadequate
assessments during protests and press reports but calling them an
anti-Russian hysteria is clear distortion of truth at least. This
    may lead to severe consequences.

With time passing everything will return to its place, and a normal
discussion on the Armenian-Russian relations will be held. But the
Armenian society needs to have such qualities that it has not had so
far. These qualities will rule out "hysteria" and direct towards our
own interests and tasks. Then Armenia will become a desirable and
demanded partner for Russia and not only.
