OPEN LETTER TO RF AMBASSADOR: YURI DAVTYAN FEARS FOR THE ANTI-RUSSIAN HYSTERIA
July 22 2013
Doctor of Philological Sciences, the Dean of the Faculty of Philology
named after K. Aboyvan Yuri Davtyan sent an open letter to the
Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Armenia, Ivan Volinkin, and
extended condolences to the relatives of 18 victims, he felt sorry
for his compatriot to appear in the center of the incident. "It is
also pitiful for me that there were people among us who taking the
advantage of this opportunity did not see 18 innocent victims, but
just the hapless rob, and began to raise anti-Russian calls, trying
to cast a shadow on the Armenian-Russian friendship for centuries.
However, I am confident that the Armenian people are aware of the
value of friendship with the Russian people." In the conversation
with Aravot.am, Yuri Davtyan once again mentions that he is extremely
concerned about the anti-Russian hysteria. "The current anti-Russian
mood for Armenia can have devastating effect. When Russia "gives up"
with Armenia, Armenia will vanish." He is adding that we are talking
only about us. "Those 18 people that were deceased, what will their
relatives think about us?" Whether Hrachia Harutyunyan will be
imprisoned in Russia or Armenia. "The crime committer should take
the punishment in the country where the incident occurred." There
are millions of Armenians, who take their punishment outdoors. The
attitude of Russian Court towards Hrachia Harutyunyan: "In our country
people are treated worse." And at the end of the letter addressed to
the Ambassador it is written: "Please tell me know the account number
to which I can transfer a small amount of money to the relatives of
the victims for providing assistance."
