RUSAL-ARMENAL THREATENED TO DISMISS EMPLOYEES AND BRING NEW ONES FROM AFRICA
Rusal-Armenal Company which is engaged in the production of aluminum
foil threatens to dismiss its 105 workers who have been fighting for
one and a half year for receiving additional payments for working
in dangerous conditions. The company warned the workers to work
otherwise they will be dismissed and other workers from Africa will
replace them. The employees applied to the prime minister asking to
instruct the employer to listen to the demands of the staff.
Director of Lev Group lawyer agency Levon Baghdasaryan says that the
employees filed contradictory suits against the company. Courts of
different instances issued different verdicts, so the case will go
the European Court of Human Rights and the employers will win the
case by the end of the year.
He noted with regret that no trade union or any other competent
authority supported the workers during the whole period of protests.
