ANDRIAS GHUKASIAN MAKES SPEECH IN CONSTITUTIONAL COURT
Today is the second day of the Constitutional Court's hearings of the
applications filed by ex-presidential candidates Raffi Hovannisian
and Andrias Ghukasian who dispute the results of the February 18
presidential election in Armenia.
The court sitting started with Ghukasian's speech. He said there were
inaccuracies in at least 414 polling stations' results submitted to
the Central Election Commission.
"For example, there were not enough voting papers in 469 polling
stations, while other polling stations had too many. Thus the election
commissions failed to ensure the proper conduct of the elections," A.
Ghukasian noted.
In his speech, Ghukasian also touched upon the issue which
was discussed in the Constitutional Court yesterday: why the
representatives of Raffi Hovannisian did not file the necessary number
of complaints when observing election violations?
"In the last presidential election HAK (Armenian National Congress)
lodged over 400 complaints, but to no avail. Why is an attempt being
made to present the opposition in our country as a group of dregs
incapable of defending their own rights. They filed applications,
but there was no proper attitude," Andrias Ghukasian said.
