Economy | 12.03.13 | 11:13
Armenia is considering passing to an 'open skies' policy between 2013
and 2025, according to a draft long-term strategic development plan
developed by the Armenian Ministry of Finance.
This policy assumes including low-budget airline companies,
de-monopolizing railway passenger transport and ensuring competition,
building and modernizing tourism infrastructures outside capital
city Yerevan, and encouraging the inclusion of international hotel
operators.
As a result, the authors of the plan assume, by 2025 Armenia is
expected to annually receive up to 2,3 million tourists, a nearly
threefold increase over today's level.
