Heritage party Vice-Chairman Armen Martirosyan believes that the
struggle led by Heritage party Chairman Raffi Hovannisian will produce
results and the elections to the Yerevan city council are only part
of this struggle.
Now, however, the Heritage party has focused on the national elections
rather than local election, however the latter is important.
As regards the proposal for resignation from Armenia's parliament,
Mr Martirosyan said that all the opposition MPs' resignation will
inevitably speed up the processes.
As to his view of his and Prosperous Armenia members being "at the same
level," with numerous oligarchs being PAP members, Mr Martirosyan said:
"We are amid and with the people. So there is no problem. The Heritage
party has always been open to contacts. But the force that will be
amid the people will be acceptable to the people."
"As to the benefits from Raffi Hovannisian's meeting with PAP Chairman
Gagik Tsarukyan, we have stated that no inter-party struggle is going
to take place here [Freedom Square] - no Heritage, Dashnaktsutyun,
Prosperous Armenia, Republican party, but a national struggle and the
people. So we can only welcome any political forces that are ready
to join this struggle," Mr Martirosyan said.
As to the rumors about a shadow cabinet headed by Raffi Hovannisian,
with Armen Martirosyan and Anahit Bakhshyan among the cabinet members,
Mr Martirosyan said that Mr Hovannisian, half in jest, called Ms
Bakhshyan "minister of education and science." "I do not think we
are speaking of a shadow cabinet now," he said.
