ATMOSPHERE OF FEAR REIGNS IN ARMENIAN POPULATED CITIES OF SYRIA

    15:58, 15 March, 2013

YEREVAN, MARCH 15, ARMENPRESS. No clashes have been recorded between
the governmental forces and the rebels in the Armenian-populated city
of Qamishli in Syria. But the population still lives in the atmosphere
of fear and uncertainty. Our compatriots living in Qamishli told
"Armenpress" that nothing essential changed in the city, no accidents
regarding the Armenians have been recorded. It has become possible
to travel to the neighboring regions freely. Among other things
they noted: "Notwithstanding, we have always been concerned with
the intense situation in the country." One can encounter the similar
situation in Kessab as well. Recently the electricity has relatively
    stabilized in this city.

Our compatriot living in capital Damascus also stated that the
situation in the city is calm. Clashes continue in the distant
districts. The Press Secretary of the Armenian National Prelacy of
Aleppo Jirair Reisian stated that explosions and shooting had been
heard in Aleppo during the March 15. The situation in the city was
    relatively calm by the morning.

In accordance with the UN data clashes lasting two years in Syria
caused death of over 70 thousand people, including more than four
    dozens Armenians.
