12:02, 29 March, 2013
YEREVAN, MARCH 29, ARMENPRESS. The first flight between Stepanakert
and Yerevan may take place this spring. As reports "Armenpress" citing
French Le Monde, the Prime Minister of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic
Arayik Harutyunyan, who paid a visit to Paris, stated this during
the press conference. Harutyunyan underscored: "The construction of
the airport is over. Notwithstanding the date of the flights has not
been clarified yet. There are also certain technical issues, which
must be solved. The issue of the Stepanakert Airport must be solved
from the human point of view instead of political, because each man
has the right to free travel both by land and air."
Stepanakert Airport is 10 km away from Stepanakert city. It was built
in 1974 and generally used to receive flights from Yerevan and Baku.
During Nagorno Karabakh War the airport served to the military
purposes.
