NNA - Kataeb party's Cultural Affairs bureau held a seminar on
Wednesday on the 98th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, at the
Kataeb central house in Saifi.
In his word delivered on the occasion, MP Sami Gemayel urged the
Lebanese state to consider the Armenian cause in its foreign policy.
According to Gemayel, Lebanon could still enclose good ties with Turkey
even when the Lebanese government recognized the Armenian Genocide.
"France's recognition of the killing of Armenians as genocide did
not cause a French-Turkish ties' break up," he corroborated.
The MP said that what happened against Armenians have happened against
the Lebanese community's components. However, he explained that what
distinguished Armenians from others was their clinging to the memory.
He said Lebanon could not be built by erasing the memory of one
another.
"We have to recognize, respect and preserve the memory of each
community in Lebanon," he concluded.
