Despite the fact that Hetq sources at the Akhtala Mine Enrichment
Plant state that Metal Prince Ltd., the plant owners, recently
received $800,000 in lieu of purchases, workers have been waiting 21
days for their wages.
The delay is affecting the plant's 600 employees.
Our sources claim that the delay was based on the decision of the
current Metal Prince executive director Madeline Tashjian, who readers
will recall is the wife of Serob Der-Boghossian.
Serob Der-Boghossian handed over the reins of the company to his wife
before being sentenced, on November 17, 2011, to 15 years after being
found guilty of having sex with minors against their will.
Hetq sources also stated that ten miners have left in protest.
Last week company deputy director Orbeli Tarminyan assured Hetq that
the wages would be paid on May 3. This never happened.
Akhtala Mayor Haykaz Khachikyan told Hetq that several workers had
recently contacted him about the wage delay and that Madeline Tashjian
never answered his phone calls.
Mayor Khachikyan added that Metal Prince hasn't paid its first quarter
property tax of 300,020 AMD.
Our sources believe that Madeline Tashjian is accululating the
company's revenues in order to free her husband from jail.
