Attention is great towards 1850 veterans living in Armenia

YEREVAN, MAY 9, ARMENPRESS: The Government of the Republic of Armenia
implements different events directed to the improvement of the social
and economic conditions of the veterans. Among them is the provision
of the annual tour packets to 100 veterans to the health center of
Arzni. 12 million AMD was allocated in 2012 from the reserve fund of
the state budget for the organization of the rest and recovery
treatment of veterans. As Armenpress was reported by the Chairman of
the Union of Veterans of the Republic of Armenia, the Colonel Simon
Yesayan, by the decree of the Government such program was implemented
in 2010 on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the victory in the
Great Patriotic War, providing 300 veterans with the opportunity to
organize their rest and recovery treatment for 12 days.
The youngest participant of the Great Patriotic War, living in
Armenia, is 87 and the eldest is 100. By April 1 2013 the number of
the veterans in Armenia has been 1850. If the 65th anniversary of the
victory in the Great Patriotic War was celebrated with 3500 veterans,
now their number is only 1850. According to the statistics, 30-45
veterans pass away every month.
There are 50 veteran organizations functioning in Armenia, 11 of which
are in Yerevan. According to official data, 600,000 Armenians, not
only from the Soviet Armenia, but also from different countries of the
CIS and Diaspora, took part in the Great Patriotic War, 200-250,000 of
which fell with hero's death.
