HOW ONE CAN SPEAK ABOUT WHAT RUSSIANS CAPTURED IN ARTSAKH
Serzh Sargsyan warned the head of the Azerbaijani delegation to
the PACE that if they start a war, they will move on to complain of
losing 25-30%, not 20% of their territories. Armenia was delighted
about Sargsyan's answer. In addition, not only Sargsyan's fellow party
members and government circles were delighted whose position supposes
that they should be delighted but also a lot of ordinary citizens.
This is an answer that Azerbaijani threats deserve indeed. Moreover,
this is the only way one should answer them. However, the answers must
have qualitative differences. For example, the person who is the head
of state should not answer the way that an ordinary citizen would do.
This is too simple. The person who is the head of state must give a
strong answer that contains politics as well. Otherwise, even say
the TV cooking show hosts teaching the citizens of the semi-poor
country how to cook expensive dishes could give the answer that he
gave to Seyidov.
Serzh Sargsyan's answer which sounded from a political chair on a
political occasion contained zero politics. Otherwise, Serzh Sargsyan
would have used the opportunity to speak about Shahumyan, Getashen
and the north of Martakert rather than reassert to Azerbaijan that
we have taken their territory and we are going to take even more if
they wage a war.
It is Azerbaijan that owes territories to Artsakh and it will have
to repay its debt in case of a war.
Since the war the problem has fully changed for Armenia, and now it
is time for the diplomatic-political war, which Armenia is obviously
losing, and Armenia or the Armenian side is still maintained
by the victory we won in the war in Artsakh. The victory in the
diplomatic-political war should have reinforced the military one but
the opposite is taking place, and Armenia is stumbling all the time.
These mistakes are not fatal yet because the military victory has
not run out of its energy.
Armenia should not boast or chide Azerbaijan. Armenia must act
towards diplomatic and political targets and make the right use of
opportunities. The Azerbaijani delegate's question was an opportunity
for Serzh Sargsyan to state that Armenia is not occupying any
Azerbaijani territory and the people of Artsakh liberated their
territories, and if another war starts, they will liberate also
Shahumyan and Getashen which are still occupied by Azerbaijan.
Meanwhile, the Armenian side seems to prefer not to speak about it
at a state level because Azerbaijan occupied Shahumyan and Getashen
with the help of the Russian army. Apparently, if they give a clue,
they will have to evoke one of the innumerable "betrayals" of our
"only friend." Therefore, they prefer not to touch this topic and,
therefore, they prefer to refrain from politics and diplomacy.
It is more comfortable to arouse delight in people through ordinary
boasting to which level perceptions of foreign and domestic policy
have been reduced.
