Actually, unlike the influence of the USA, the Russian influence
in Armenia is formal, a member of the former "Karabakh" committee,
analyst, Ashot Manucharyan, told journalists today.
"Actually, just Washington recommends its agents to display positive
attitude towards Moscow so that to avoid direct confrontation with a
rather strong Moscow. I am confident that the forces which display
themselves like Russia's partners: the state machine, political
parties, analytical centres and mass media are chiefly under the
USA's strong influence, though it is not so", - he said.
When commenting on confrontation of the pro-Western and pro-Russian
forces in Armenia in the context of Yerevan's intention to join the
Customs Union, Manucharyan said these forces promote the efforts of
the third forces to destroy Europe and Russia. He regrets that Armenia
has become one of the countries where interests of Russia and Europe
come across each other so that to prevent alliance between them which
seem to be contradictory force centres at first sight.
When commenting on the performance performed in Strasbourg by a
member of the Armenian parliament, Zarui Postanjan and President Serzh
Sargsyan, Manucharyan said that actually the authorities of Armenia
being an instrument in the hands of the USA, could prepare such a
performance so that to display Serzh Sargsyan like a pro-Russian
politician. He thinks that we have to expect similar performances in
future as well.
