ALEPPO STILL MOST HEATED SPOT IN SYRIA - LEBANESE-ARMENIAN JOURNALIST.
October 11, 2013 | 16:03
YEREVAN. - The most heated spot in Syria continues to be Aleppo, where
the country's largest Armenian community lives. The city is under a
blockade; sometimes food and fuel is managed to be delivered there.
Editor-in-Chief Shahan Kandaharian of Lebanon's Aztag Armenian daily
told the abovementioned during a press conference on Friday.
In his words, the situation is peaceful in the center of capital city
Damascus, and the battles primarily take place in the outskirts of
the city.
As per Kandaharian, the situation is likewise stable in Syria's
coastal regions because, for the most part, the Alevis live there,
and they have remained loyal to the president of Syria.
"In northern Syria, where Armenians also live, the Kurds are trying
to preserve sovereignty," Shahan Kandaharian added.
He also stressed that, aside from military actions, there is also
an information warfare going on in and around Syria, and Turkey is
actively engaged in this information warfare.
