NATO to carry on cooperation with Armenia in military reforms
YEREVAN. Oct 18
NATO is ready to broaden cooperation with Armenia, the NATO Secretary
General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia
James Appathurai told a press conference in Yerevan on Friday.
He said the alliance realized that Russia was a strategic partner of
Armenia and no one doubted that. But the alliance was ready to expand
cooperation and to continue assisting Armenia in its military reforms,
including the reform of military education, Appathurai said.
He also stressed the importance of a peaceful solution of the Karabakh conflict.
NATO supports the OSCE Minsk Group; it has partner relations with
Armenia and Azerbaijan and attaches importance to the peaceful
settlement of that conflict, Appathurai said.
