AZERBAIJANI DELEGATION NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN EURONEST PLENARY SESSION IN YEREVAN

The Azerbaijani delegation has resigned its membership in the EuroNest
Parliamentary Assembly. As a result, Azerbaijan will not participate
in the next meeting in Yerevan, next November.
The Armenian delegation to the EuroNest Parliamentary Assembly (PA)
participated in the EuroNest plenary session in Baku, Azerbaijan,
April 2-4, 2012.
Artak Zakaryan, a member of the Armenian delegation to the EuroNest
Parliamentary Assembly, told Tert.am that the EuroNest Parliamentary
Assembly Bureau will hold a meeting in Kiev, Ukraine.
"We will try to understand the reason for the Azerbaijan delegation's
absurd approach. As I have understood from the letter of the head
of the delegation, they are boycotting the EuroNest activities,"
Mr Zakaryan said.
Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the EuroNest Parliamentary
Assembly Elhan Suleimanov released a statement explaining that the
reason for the decision is the European Parliament's resolution on the
presidential election in Azerbaijan, while the European Parliament's
monitoring mission called the election free, fair and transparent.
The Yerevan meeting is to be preceded by a commission meeting in
Brussels.
"That is, the plenary session in Yerevan is to be preceded by at least
four or five working meetings. And during the Bureau meeting we will
try to understand Azerbaijan's demand from EuroNest," Mr Zakaryan said.
