500 KM OF NORTH-SOUTH IS COVERED WITH CONCRETE

There are shortcomings in the construction of the North-South highway,
the minister of transport and communication Gagik Beglaryan told
reporters today. "We are not 100% satisfied, there are some slight
shortcomings which they promised to overcome. Shortcomings are related
to quality but they are small, unlike the former ones, there are slight
shortcomings now," the minister said. He noted that the French Safege
Company has put more rigid control in place after the revelations of
the Control Chamber and replaced the whole staff. Gagik Beglaryan noted
that if the work proceeds along the schedule, it will be possible to
implement 40% of work by the end of the year.
Construction is underway in Artashat and Ashtarak, 500 meters of
road is covered with concrete every day. "They promised that as soon
as the work proceeds properly, up to 700-800 meters will be covered
with concrete every day," the minister said. The third disbursement
of 100 million dollars will be signed off in 1.5-2 months.
