Relations between Azerbaijan and the West are becoming increasingly
tense and the recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh's independence by
the California State Senate was a very important event in light of
these circumstances, Stepan Safaryan, political scientist, Founding
President of the Armenian Institute of International and Security
Affairs, told reporters on Friday.
The expert highlighted the importance of the fact that another U.S.
state recognized the Nagorno-Karabakh's independence following the
military adventure by Azerbaijan.
"This can be considered a certain preventive and punitive step against
Azerbaijan," Safaryan said.
