Spokesman of Prosperous Armenia Party, MP Tigran Urikhanyan has
qualified today's statement by his colleague from the ruling
Republican Party, Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard
Sharmazanov as a hint that his party seeks dictatorship.
"Sharmazanov's statement that only through RPA one can get high office
in Armenia is insulting for Prosperous Armenia, its partners and
hundreds of thousands of people who did not vote for RPA. I think RPA
must give explanations concerning its hint about one-party
dictatorship. He must explain if this is RPA's official position or
not," Urikhanyan said. Earlier in the day Sharmazanov said that it is
apparent that RPA will continue to be the leader in Armenian politics
for approximately at least the next ten years. Today the political
field is open and competitive. But, first and foremost, this
competition is inside the Republican Party," Eduard Sharmazanov said.
