EURONEST PA REPORT ON COMMUNICATION POLICIES TO BE APPROVED IN YEREVAN IN MARCH
YEREVAN, November 11. /ARKA/. The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly
report on communication policies will be approved at a meeting in
Yerevan on March 16-20. Head of Armenian parliament committee for
external affairs Artak Zakaryan said after the PA Euronest meeting
of November 4-6.
He said the countries are to provide their proposals for the report
by January 16.
The document covers a range of issues on Armenia's economic security
and communications, from closed borders to free air space.
"We will try to have the views of key importance to us reflected in
the document", Zakaryan said.
Secretary of Orinats Yerkir faction Mher Shahgeldyan who co-authors
the report said the main aim is to localize European approaches
and standards and to form a common communication framework in the
document. The report covers aviation, motor transport and railroads.
It is important for Armenia that the document has provisions for
countries with no access to sea and having artificial obstacles on
the roads. This will provide an opportunity in future to speak about
potential assistance from international organizations, Shahgeldyan
said.
Another important issue is air communications and "open air" policy
in particular, along with exclusion of risks to civilian aircraft.
"The document is extremely important for Armenia, and we should
continue working particularly over provisions that comply with the
European requirements and Armenia's approaches", the lawmaker said.
