Armenian Defense Minister Seiran Oganian has warned that Armenia will
give a response to Azerbaijan for shooting down a helicopter in the
    self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh republic.

"The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic's authorities announced the operational
tactical exercise Unity 2014 conducted by the armed forces of Armenia
and Nagorno-Karabakh in advance. An incident sad to us has happened,
and our response will be somewhat disproportionate," Oganian told
    journalists in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Armenian First Deputy Defense Minister David Tonoyan said, "Before
making a decision on using a new method of a ceasefire violation, the
leadership of Azerbaijan's armed forces didn't bother to calculate
whether the damage caused by the attack on the helicopter would exceed
the military superiority expected at the moment."

"By saying about the damage involved, I mean the Armenian forces'
possible actions in response to the helicopter's interception and,
certainly, the threat that the negotiating process would be thwarted
and the efforts aimed at bolstering the truce nullified," he said.

The Azeri Defense Ministry had reported earlier that an Armenian
military helicopter Mi-24 had been shot down 1,700 meters northeast of
the village of Kengerli, the Agdam district, after taking an attack
course and trying to attack Azeri armed forces' positions.

The helicopter's wreckage fell about 500 meters away from the Azeri positions.

The defense minister of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic
had reported on Wednesday that Azeri forces had shot down a
Nagorno-Karabakh military helicopter while the latter was on a
    training flight.

Nagorno-Karabakh presidential spokesman David Babayan also said later
that the helicopter was not a combat one.

Media reported that three people had been killed in the crash.
