YEREVAN HAS BEEN NEGOTIATING WITH RUSSIA ON OPENING OF A SEPARATE TERMINAL FOR THE CARGO COMPANIES OF ARMENIA AT "VERKHNIY LARS" CHECK POINT

Armenia has been negotiating with Russia on simplification of cargo
traffic, the head of the Trade and Market Management Department
under Armenia's Economy Ministry, Gagik Kocharyan, said over today's
discussions dedicated to Armenia's joining Eurasian Economic Union.
He means the possibility of opening a separate terminal for the cargo
companies of Armenia at "Verkhniy Lars" check point. He also added
that if they manage to open the terminal, this will simplify much
entering of the production of the Armenian producers the markets of
the EEU member-states and visa versa.
For his part, chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Employers of
Armenia, Arsen Kazaryan, added that settlement of this problem is very
much important. Until recently, only one motor out of 8, that passed
through the Verkhniy Lars check point, belonged to the Armenian cargo
companies. Today the situation worsened even more because of sharp
growth of the Turkish goods export to Russia."Turkey has used the
Western sanctions to Russia and increased export volumes. Its ports
cannot resist the growth of the cargo traffic any more. Therefore,
the major part of the Turkish motors have staring running through
the Verkhni Lars check point", - Kazaryan said.
