HRAPARAK: PROSECUTION TO HAVE DIFFICULTY IN PROVING LEVON HAYRAPETYAN GUILT

    10:20 * 20.09.14

    Russian-Armenian businessman-philantopist Levon Hayrapetyan's detention
has given way to different interpretations and comments.

Some believe it is Russia's warning to Armenia against searching
foreign policy alternatives, says the paper, while others find that the
case was in Azerbaijan's interests given that the businessman intended
to found a military academy on the Karabakh-Azerbaijani border.

Speaking to the paper, Archbishop Yezras Nersisyan, the primate of
the Armenian Diocese in Russia and New Nakicevan, said he doesn't
see any political motives at all.

Knowing the businessman well, the archbishop said he has no doubt
about his innocence. "Levon is facing charges, but he hasn't been
convicted. An inquest is under way, so his guilt has yet to be proven
in court. I am sure the prosecution will have difficulty in proving
Levon's guilt. What troubles us more now is his health condition,"
the paper quotes him as saying.
